Somatic Cannabis Meditations
You Were Drawn To Cannabis For A Reason
Have you found that reason?
Or are you still waiting?
She Turned The Lights On. Now What?
You lit her up. The anxiety surfaced. The craving hit. The old pattern showed up at the door. And you thought: is this supposed to feel like this?
Yes.
She didn't show you the fear to punish you. She showed you because you're finally ready to feel it through — instead of running from it.
This is not a course. This is not a lecture. This is not someone telling you you're using Cannabis wrong — because you're not.
This is a guided practice for what happens AFTER you light her up.
Imagine Being Handed The Keys To A Ferrari At Sixteen.
No driver's ed. No instruction. No rite of passage.
That's what we do with Cannabis. We hand people the most powerful nervous system tool on the planet — and nobody teaches them to drive it.
So they crash. And then they go one of two ways.
Reckless driving. Checking out more and more. The addiction path. Crash and burn.
Or fearful avoidance. Park the car. Drive super cautiously. Never feel the full power.
That's like blaming the Ferrari for its power when you never learned to drive.
This is the rite of passage you were never given.
What Is A Somatic Cannabis Meditation?
A somatic Cannabis meditation is a guided audio practice you listen to while you're with the plant — not before, not instead of, during. It walks you through breath, hand placement, movement, and body awareness so the feelings Cannabis surfaces can move through you instead of getting stuck.
Cannabis is a mirror revealing you... to YOU.
Most people don't know what to do with what the mirror shows. This is the part they don't teach you.
The States She Reveals — And The Tracks For Them
Fear surfaced?
Spotlight or Floodlight
It meets the anxiety, the paranoia, the moment you feel too high and your thoughts start running.
Munchies kicking in?
The Hunger That Isn't Food
It meets emotional eating at the root — the nervous system trying to fill a well that food was never going to fill.
Reaching for another hit when you're already lit?
The Leash or the Key
It meets addiction and codependency the way a clinician would: as a signal, not a weakness.
Suppressed emotions that suddenly have a voice?
The Emotions You Suppressed
It meets what you have been holding down — and gives it a way through the body instead of back into hiding.
Feeling nothing and wondering if you're doing it wrong?
The Numb That Wasn't Peace
Numbness is not peace. Numbness is the nervous system holding its breath.
The inner child knocking?
Uncage The Inner Child
It meets the part of you that has been waiting to be seen — and lets it finally move.
You don't have to figure it out alone. You just have to press play and follow your breath.

The 3 Types Of Cannabis Use
1. Recreational Use
You light her up to unwind, to laugh, to escape the noise, to destress. And she delivers — every time, or almost every time.
But sometimes the noise doesn't stay out. Sometimes she shows you something you weren't ready to see. Nothing is wrong with you. She's not punishing you. She's inviting you to go deeper — into your own body.
Recreational use skims her surface — you're touching 1% of her power and 1% of yours. The ECS was built to regulate, but it needs YOU to uproot the source of dysregulation.
Recreational use soothes the branch and leaves the root untouched. Full ECS power opens through somatic, sacred, ceremonial use.
She was never trying to ruin the high. She was trying to show you the source.
2. Medicinal Use
You approached her like medicine — for sleep, pain, anxiety, appetite. And she works. You found relief.
But the root cause is still there. The insomnia returns when you stop. The pain shifts but doesn't leave. The anxiety waits at the door.
What if Cannabis could help you heal the root cause — not just manage the symptoms?
Using her like big pharma is still using her like a pill. Relief without resolution. The pharmacy model numbs the symptom and sends you home — the dysregulation your nervous system has been holding for years never gets addressed.
What if the same plant that gave you relief could also give you restoration?
3. Sacred, Somatic, Ceremonial Use
There is a third type of use. Neither recreational nor medicinal.
Sacred. Somatic. Ceremonial.
This is the use the Smoke + Mirror Circle exists for. This is the use she's been calling you toward every time she showed you something you weren't ready to see.
The Science Behind The Practice
Your body has an endocannabinoid system — receptor sites built specifically for this plant. Cannabis doesn't enter a stranger's house. She enters her own.
The ECS is your body's master regulator. Its job is homeostasis — balance. It modulates sleep, appetite, pain, mood, immune response, stress. It decides when the body calms down, when it digests, when it rests, when it repairs. CB1 receptors live throughout your central nervous system — the brain, the spinal cord, the vagus nerve. CB2 receptors live in your immune system and your gut. Together they keep the whole organism in conversation with itself.
And here's what almost no one teaches: the ECS can only regulate what it can reach. When stress, trauma, and chronic bracing get stored in the body — in the fascia, in the breath, in the places you've been holding since childhood — they create pockets the ECS cannot touch. Dysregulation becomes structural. That's why the symptom keeps returning. That's why the insomnia comes back. That's why the anxiety waits at the door.
The plant opens the door. She widens the window of access — the nervous system becomes receptive, the vagal brake loosens, the body drops its armor. But if all you do is get high, you walk through the door and stand there. The dysregulation stays exactly where it's always been.
Somatic practice is what walks you through. The hands. The breath. The body awareness. It meets the state she revealed and moves it — through the fascia, through the vagus, through the places that have been bracing since childhood. You don't need to know the anatomy to feel it. You just need to know where to put your hands and how to breathe. That's what the tracks guide.
Use her recreationally and you get the door. Use her medicinally and you get relief. Use her somatically and you uproot the source — and the ECS finally does what it was built to do: regulate, restore, return you to balance.
About Dr. Shelly Persad
I'm a retired chiropractor turned nervous system architect who has found God and Goddess in my fascia thanks to Cannabis and my endocannabinoid system. I wrote the book Somatophobia about why we fear the very body that holds everything we're looking for withIN, not externally. It's the book I spent my whole life looking for... externally. I built the Regulate app so your nervous system has a home.
The Smoke + Mirror Circle is where my clinical training meets the plant — the container I wish existed for every patient who ever told me they used Cannabis to cope and felt ashamed of it. Who quit smoking Cannabis because she stopped working. Who quit because she gave them anxiety or paranoia — when she wasn't turning on them, she was turning them toward the truth. Who thought they had to choose between their healing and their relationship with her. Who came to me after trying everything external — the pills, the programs, the prescriptions — never realizing the body holds everything they were looking for within.
I'm not here to tell you to use less. I'm not here to tell you to quit. I'm here to show you the third type of use — the one that meets the reason you were drawn to her in the first place.
You're not coping wrong. You're coping the best you know how. Let me show you what your nervous system has been asking for.
